About Me

Noah Cortez, Writer & Editor

I got my start in writing/editing in the Bay Area. My first “real” job out of college was at KQED, where I was hired as their first ever Gen Z engagement specialist (yes, that was my literal job title). I joined KQED to concept and execute an editorial strategy targeting Gen Z, in an effort to expand the public broadcasting audience to a younger demographic.

7 months later, I packed up and left California for NYC to work at GQ Magazine, where I was their weekend social editor. I lived, breathed, and slept all things social—if you look at any Instagram photo, tweet, or Facebook post on GQ’s feeds, I was the brain behind curating content, writing captions, and posting. I also had a short stint as an editorial producer at BlackRock, and spent time as a Global Marketing Manager at TikTok.

I’ve since gone fully freelance.

Now, I sit full-time in a freelance capacity on the editorial team at Tripadvisor, where I write and edit content (ie. itineraries/city guides, newsletters, articles, etc.) about different destinations around the world. I’m also the weekend editor at Complex, where I run its social media accounts and write articles, primarily on the topics of internet culture and style.

On the side, I'm also a certified group fitness instructor through AFAA and specialize in HIIT/strength training.
